My birthday!

It was my 28th bday on the 24th, also my moms bday too. We are special ;) My mom and my family spoilt the heck out of me! Mostly my mom! She bought me a friggin Nikon Coolpix P500 camera!!!! Its my new baby! My camera is starting to go, and I had mentioned how needed a new one, but I had no clue she had actually got me such an amazing camera! Its from my brother too ;)

She also got my these storage things from Michaels that she knew I wanted. I love them too!!

One is a carrying box, so I can take my clay tools and clay wherever I need to go. It was specially designed for Michaels, so its pretty cool. The other is made by Recollections, and its a tool holder. Really handy. Its pretty big, and has taken up some kinda room on my desk XD But its all good.
Last night, me and my family went to The Keg for dinner. I got some $ for Disney Land from my sister and brother, and mom and my younger brother gave me the camera and mom got me clay <3!! THEN, after dinner, the waitress came with a DQ cake that mom had sent there! It had candles and everyone sang happy birthday, and it was the best thing ever! Ive never felt so... loved, I guess ;p It was the best night ever! The dinner was amazing despite us having to wait almost an hour for our table, even though we had made a reservation. It was so worth it though. I can say truly that this was my very best bday ever... at least that I can remember ;)

At The Beach sculptures

Here are my completed At The Beach sculptures. These were so fun to make, and look awesome ;)

This one is Gracie and Bette, hanging out by the tide. And as usual, Gracie is about to be hit by a big wave, and Bette is shocked to see that it is coming for her too XD

And here is Liberty and Georgia, relaxing at the beach by some palm trees after playing in the sand. They were both taking naps, and Liberty has cuddled up beside Georgia. There is a heart made of sand behind Liberty <3

Inspiration is weird

Inspiration is a crazy thing. I got home form my trip, and I just wanted to dive in to my claying, since I also had 5 days off to do whatever I wanted. I made 3 kinds of Chicky Beans and I really didnt like them, nor do I like them now. They got hucked in to the reject bin. I was sad, since they took up time, and clay, but, this kinda thing happens. There is one I want to eventually re-make.Its the Belgium Waffle. I loved making the waffle, but the Chicky Bean didnt turn out right, so I want to make that one over again some time.
I went to Michales last weekend and took advantage of the clay sale, and I got a lot of colours I need for the 4 new characters I have created. Im thinking of writing some stories for them or something like that. I love the new colours that have been released as I have said before. I had a list of the ones I wanted and when I got to the Michales in Vancouver to get them, someone had bought every block of every colour that I wanted! I was pissed, mostly cause we had paid for parking after driving half an hour in to Vancouver XD Oh well, I went to the one in Richmond and there was a full selection there :)
Anyways, I finished a beach sculpture which I will post later, and now I want to work on another. SO I shall ;)

At The Beach Chicky Beans

I made these Chicky Beans before I went to Georgia, and so far, they are my very favorites :D

Heres a close up of them. I THINK Ive narrowed down their names, so Ill just list them here. Here is Liberty Belle, the Sandcastles At The Beach Chicky Bean.

Here is Georgia Adalaine, the Palm Trees At The Beach Chicky Bean. She turned out awesome!

Here is Gracie Sarah, the Waves At The Beach Chicky Bean.

And here is Bette Valerie, the Sea Shells At The Beach Chicky Bean.

Since it is summer, I am trying to make more summery/beachy Chicky Beans, but Im also getting some ideas for my Chicky Beans From Around The World series, so I might make one or two after I make another beach Chicky Bean

Im back!

Geeze, I just realized how long its been since I posted here.... guess its time to catch up!
Clay wise, I have TONS and TONS of new clay, and by new, I mean the new Premo and Sculpey colours that have been released. I am very, very pleased with them. Im so happy they came out. After about 10 years of exactly the same colours being sold, it got beyond dull. But, it gave me good reason to learn how to make my own new colours, but the new ones that have come out have special pigments and glitters and such that cant be made otherwise.
I have also made lots and lots of Chicky Beans. I wish I had kept up with this blog so I could document each one as it was being made, but I have been going through some difficult things, and just didnt get around to it. So, hopefully, Ill get back in to the swing of that. Anyways, thats all for this moment. Hopefully Ill be back soon! ;)

NEW CLAY

Havent posted in a while, but I did get my wholesale order of clay earlier this week, and I am stoked!!!! I was just going to take pics, but that is going to be waaaay too many pics, so I made a video instead. I think Ill make more vids. Not as awkward as I thought, but I HATE the sound of my voice. Is this seriously how I sound? XD
Ill post some pics of the newest things Ive made soon.

pics

Here are the pics of my newest works that I said Id post. I LOVE the way Lavender Eucalyptus turned out. Seems all Chicky Beans involving lavender turn out cool XD

Isnt she cuuuuute? :D

Im mixing some greens tonight, and heres typically what the start of a colour is like. I take different greens and mush them up to make a custom green. Those two green little balls you see are Pardo clay, and they come in little balls XD Its pretty awesome. I love the Olivine green.

Biggest clay order ever!

I contacted the Polyform products company and told them that I wanted to know when the hecks Canada, or anywhere for that matter, was going to get the new Premo and Sculpey 3 colours. I guess they didnt want to talk to a Canadian, so they linked me to the Canadian clay company, KJPcrafts. They are getting their shipment of the new colours on Wednesday, and they said I can put in an order. Only thing is, I have to spend $200, because its wholesale. I pondered this for a while, before I came to the conclusion that I spend that much buying clay that I already have anyways, and this was the new clay! so, I ended up ordering $220 worth of stuff. I got lots of the Premo new colours, some of the new Sculpey 3 colours, I got some 1lb blocks of discontinued Sculpey 3 colours ( one being pale pistachio) I got lots of discontinued Studio by Sculpey colours t $1 each! I grabbed some Studio glazes, and for fun, I ordered some leaf shaped cutters. I dont even know which leafs they are, but its set #2 XD So, they are shipping it all out on wednesday, or thursday. so Im all kinds of excited. Im sure some of you think Im crazy, and I will agree XD Getting clay is like buying all the candy you want in a candy store. It never gets dull ;p I also have ordered Pardo and Cernit clays, but I had them shipped to Beckys house, and she will bring them next month. Hobby Lobby doesnt ship to Canada, plus, doing this saved tons of $ on shipping XD so, thats more clay eventually coming :D
In other clay news, I finished up my "olivias Cupcakes" set and her friend, Chocolate Chip Frosting. They are quite the cute. She has a little cupcake stand/table in the shape of a choco chip :) And they are both all kinds of sparkly. Im working on a Chicky Bean right now called Lavender Eucalyptus. I had a urge to use light purple and green, so she will be the result of my muse ;) Ill post pics tomorrow. Right now, I need to make some grass for this Chicky Beans base :)

A claying kinda weekend

Mom and I were supposed to go see a Harry Potter Exhibition in Seattle yesterday, but we didnt go, even though I got us tickets in November XD It was just too much hassle to go. Its a three hour drive to Seattle, plus the space center we were going to said to be there 2 hours early
(wth?) and parking is $40 for a few hours at the center....... uhm, Ill pass, thanks. This would mean waking up @ 2am to beat the traffic at the border, have to drive for 3 or more hours, buy breakfast, buy lunch, pay $40 in parking, then get inside the exhibit only to be told there are no bags, coats, cameras, phones, ANYTHING allowed in the room, and look at a bunch of HP stuff. Ill wait for October when we actually go to the theme park in California, or wherever it is ;p Id much rather go in to HoneyDukes anyday ;)
So, instead, mom and I went to Michaels, MY candy store ;) There is a sale on clay, and we also had '20% off your entire purchase' coupons, which also included sale items :O Well, that just meant more clay to buy. The pickings were a bit slim. Guess someone beat me there, or they havent been filling up their stock. But, I got lots of what I wanted, and a 3 lb box of white sculpey that I use as the bulk of most of my pieces. I also got a bottle of liquid sculpey, which is always good :) And I got to use my christmas Michaels gift cards, so I didnt have to pay for anything XD It was a good time ;p Mom and I also went to Red Robin for lunch, and I got my most fave burger and drink, but we will not be ordering any onion rings for a starter anymore, cause its too much food XD

Ive been working on my cupcake stand for my 'Olivias Cupcakes' set, and the two cupcake stands I had been working on all week each failed in their own way. one of them, the cupcakes detached from the glass plate they were on, and the other, the sides that were holding up the plate broke. So, I tried cutting the case open, and tried desperately to fix them, but in the end, I threw it away. There was no way to fix these, and have them still remain sellable.... SO, I made newer and improved ones! Much more sturdy and better looking.. And didnt take long at all ;) I also made Olivia to go with the stand. Im still finishing it up :) I also had the idea to make another cupcake stand, but this one with chocolate cupcakes. Maybe the Chicky Bean can be Olivias fried, and they can all be bought together ;p Ill see. But i think ill make that when Im done :)

Heres what the new ones look like. Still need to decorate the top.

clay colours

I just checked the Polyform site, and they have posted the recipes for all the colours of the discontinued Studio by Sculpey line. Im really upset they got rid of this line, but Im sure they did because having someone like STUPID Donna Dewberry advertising it was LAAAAAMMMEEEEEEEEEEE. I remember back when it first came out, and they were looking for instructors to teach classes on how to use the clay for home decor. As much as that sounded cool, its frigging clay, and it can be used for anything. but all they told you it was for is home decor! At the time I was talking to a fellow polymer clay artist, and she had been picked to be an instructor. I told her how much I wanted to do that, and she told me she hated it, mostly because she was forced in to teaching ONLY how to make home decor. It was the same stuff over and over and over. A lot of people complained about DD advertising the clay, and I never have liked her with her idiotic 'one stroke' painting. gag! "Look at me! I have 16 kids, and I wanted to have a hobby, so look at how I paint flowers! Im amazing at what I do!" she is so egotistical.
ANYWAYS, whats funny is that the recipes pretty much all involve the new Premo colours that havent even been released yet XD oh well. I love how I get a different answer from every company I ask about when they are releasing the new clay ;p But, I know of one place that is getting it on the 20th, so Ill order a bit from there. Heres a list of the new Premo palette:

Im so glad they are bringing Wasabi and Blush in to the palette. I loved those colours in the Studio sculpey line. I still have lots of Studio clay, but I still wish they were still selling it. oh well. what to do ;p For anyone who wants to see the recipes for the Studio clay, heres the link: http://www.sculpey.com/sites/default/files/Recipes%20for%20Studio%20by%20Sculpey%20Colors.pdf

Heres some pics from Polyform that shows some of the new colours :)

working away

Thank Lord for having a creative outlet XD Something I can do to get my mind off stuff XD Claying!!
Saturday, I made a set of Chicky Beans, and when it was all done, I hated it ;p I guess cause I made it while I was upset. So in to the reject bin they went ;p BUT, I did get the idea to do something with cupcakes, and so I am working n making a cupcake display case. Going to use my 'memory glass' so you can see inside the cupcake case :) Then Ill make a little Chicky Bean to go with it, and put it on my etsy as a set :)
Friday I glazed all the Chicky Beans that needed to be glazed, so heres how they look after being glazed.

ANd here is the start of the cupcake display case. This isnt very "fun" but it will get better once the case is constructed ;)

Changes

Now is the time for things to change, I suppose. It seems like that is the way stuff is going down now, with friends and with work. Guess 2011 really wants to get stuff going. So, I guess Ill just "go with the flow", not that I have a choice. But Im going to be looking for a new job. Hopefully I get one soon. Going to be going back to the gym starting on Monday, and get my etsy site going. Think Im going to just make that my main focus.
Man, this week started off good, by by the end of it, I wanted to jump off a cliff...... SO glad I didnt have to work today........ gotta get back to claying. Makes me forget about life.

Aberdeen Mall

Today Kassie and I went to Aberdeen mall (hope Im spelling that right. probably not) It was cool. I have never been, and its basically a Chinese mall, so lots of the stores were Chinese/Japanese themed. But it was cool. We went to this AMAZING collectibles shop, where they have EVERY kind of collectible from every anime, disney movie, and those little cell phone toys you can get! they have, like, 2o different machines! TONS of stuffed animals! I was all kinds of :O!!!!
I got myself a little package that had 1 of 8 different Disney Ice Cream cones. SOme of the characters included Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Stitch, Goofy, and...... Daisy Duck? Ill have to check the package. Anyways I wanted Goofy, but got Winnie the Pooh, which is quite cute, so Im happy ;p It took me 20 mins to decide which of the surprise boxes I would get There were SO many. Probably over 50 different kinds.
Before that store, we went to a huge dollar store. It was insane. when we were leaving, I bought a Mario Bros themed Kinder surprise egg. I got it cause there was a possibility you could get a Koopa Kid, and I wanted it XD BUT, instead I got.... a Yoshi egg on a block... I actually stared at it for several minutes before I accepted it. At least it was only 2 bucks lol
We went to a Hello Kitty store, very awesome, but very expensive. Then we went for dinners. We got my fave, steamed pork buns. Kassie got some with shrimp, which I avoided XD We also had chow mein and rice. Good times. It was a great way to end my day after work ;p Heres the Pooh ice cream (Pooh ice cream?? eeewwww...) and my yoshi egg XD Oh, thr ice cream is also a pen, and it writes in a orange colour to match the ice cream :)

Irritated

I hate feeling irritated, but thats how Im feeling tonight. I have my reasons, and there are a few, but, thats life ;p I found out things at work, and at home, and sometimes stuff can just add up.... oh well. Im not at work, so I am happy XD
Tonight, Im working on my new series of Chicky Beans. Chicky Beans from Around the World! I have wanted to start this series since around this time last year, and I SORT OF started, but left it. Now Im back, with better ideas, and I already have 1 finished: Sweet Lavender from France.

I also used my new Martha flocking powder. For those who have no idea what flocking powder is, I shall attempt to explain. Ever gotten a card or book with a fuzzy image? not like fur, but, more like itty bitty fuzz? that is most likely flocking powder. I got 5 colours for christmas, and I hope I find better ways to use them. I love the 'Robins Egg' colour :)
Anyways, I decided to make all these Chicky Beans with eye pins in them, so they can be used as decorations. Im also going to try to use a glitter or micro marble or flocking powder on each one. Sweet Lavender from France got flocking powder, and my newest WIP Chicky Bean had glitter mixed in to one of her colours. She is the Caribbean Ocean Winds Chicky Bean. I havent decided on a hair colour, so Im working on some water as a base instead ;p I like how her colours turned out. Ill post a pic when she is done :)

New years and trip to Bellingham

Well, its my first post of the new year! Im actually enjoying this blogging thing, so Ill be keeping up with it :)
Here is the finished Shimmering Christmas Frosting ScentSational Chicky Bean, and also the last thing I made in 2010 :) She turned out pretty cute. I used a bunch of the colours from my Studio Sculpey collection, which has been discontinued as of the 31st of December. She looks like a Hillary, so maybe that will eventually be her name ;)

In other news, I did nothing for New Years eve XD I never do anyways XD I was in bed at 930, cause I am a very tired person lol
BUT, mom and I made a trip to Bellingham, WA today, with the hope of the new Premo colours being available. I was told Michaels would have them on Jan 1st, but of course, there were none. The lady said they probably had them in the back, they just hadnt been put out yet. Oh well, next time. I did grab some more Pale Pistachio Sculpey though, since that is an amazing colour, and it is one of the colours Sculpey is discontinuing :/ I also grabbed some new Martha glitters. I LOVE her glitters!! I have 3 sets of glitters, one micro marbles set and one set that is christmas themed with a mix of glitters and marbles. Very awesome. Grabbed a 1lb block of Super Sculpey flesh. $12.99 in USA, and $25 in Canada :/ I also got the new Polymer Cafe magazine, which looks like a good issue, and a copy of Art Doll Quarterly. Now, going to the US and seeing how frigging cheap things are out there compared to the horrid price we pay in Canada is appalling!! I paid $20 for my glitter set, and its over $30 in Canada. Sculpey is $3.49 in Canada, and $1.99 in USA. My magazines were both $6 less than what i pay out here.... if there is one thing I HATE, its Canadian taxes ><>
